ABOUT PASSIONS TUTORING & MENTORING

Hi, I’m Emma, a teacher based in New York City. I hold a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Kansas and an M.A. in Teaching from Northeastern University.

Over the past eight years, I’ve worked in private, parochial, and Title I schools. While I’m licensed to teach History (6-12), I now focus on individualized coaching and instruction for students of all ages.

Rooted in my anthropology background, my teaching approach centers on curiosity and understanding. I’m known for asking thoughtful, nonjudgmental questions that help students uncover their strengths.

My mission as an educator is to nurture curiosity and confidence and to create learning experiences that inspire growth. Above all, I believe every student deserves an advocate who truly sees and believes in them.

I understand firsthand the frustrations and limitations within the current U.S. education system. While I deeply believe in the mission of public schools, I’ve learned that the most meaningful and equitable learning experiences I can offer happen through 1:1 mentorship. At Passions Tutoring & Mentoring, we’re building a community of like-minded educators who are dedicated to nurturing young people’s curiosity and intellect, with the belief that they will shape our future.
